Will my bones separate after pin removal?

Pin removal is performed only after the boneshave healed and fused sufficiently.
Once healing is confirmed, removing the pins generally does not cause the bones to separate.

When can the pins be removed?

Pin removal is generally recommended 6 months to 2 years after surgery, once the bones have healed and stabilized.
Removal may still be possible later, but the procedure can become more complex if new bone has grown over the pins.

Can I have my pins removed at a different hospital?

Pin removal may be possible at another hospital, but surgical materials and instruments can vary. Consult with the hospital where you plan to have the procedure to determine whether removal is feasible. Whenever possible, we recommend having your pins removed at the same hospital where you underwent facial contouring surgery.
